Special Tools Hire & Refurbishment Service

The provision of a service to Hire or Refurbish Special Tools for the servicing of rotating equipment, in order to ensure that the necessary equipment to perform the service is available on site and in good condition prior to the commencement of the maintenance work.

When performing major service work on rotating machinery, various items of special tooling are required in order to strip down the machine and then rebuild it. These tools are generally provided when the equipment is purchased; however they may have been lost, or deteriorated, or the certification on the lifting equipment may have expired, by the time they are required for major service work.

IMS can provide this tooling on a hire basis for the period of the gas turbine inspection, thereby eliminating the possibility of delays, unnecessary expense and machinery downtime. The tooling can be containerised for ease of transportation and fully certificated for the duration of the inspection.

IMS also provide a refurbishment service for customer's special tooling to ensure that these are to the required standard prior to the commencement of the inspection.

Broken or lost tools must be identified when special tooling is returned to IMS at the end of the hire period, with associated costs chargeable to the customer.
