Gas Turbine Component Repair
The refurbishment of a discrete component using defined processes and procedures to return that component to serviceable condition.
IMS perform a wide range of Component Repairs to a variety of components with the aim of reducing the overall cost of gas turbine maintenance to IMS customers.
A Component Repair is performed in accordance with approved IMS repair procedures that are controlled in accordance with IMS Quality standards. The general aim of the Component Repair procedure is to restore the design service life of the component; this is not always possible and in such cases IMS would advise a restricted service life. Each item refurbished by IMS carries the normal IMS warranty, i.e. the repair work that IMS perform on the component is guaranteed for a 12-month period.
Typical components that can be repaired include compressor blading (rotor and stator), combustion system components (swirlers, flame tubes, etc.), rotor shaft journals, abraidable labyrinth seals, turbine hot blading (rotor and stator), plus a variety of others.
Typical repair procedures include welding, brazing, coating, re-forming, etc. plus a variety of Non-Destructive Testing techniques.
Not all the items removed from a machine are suitable for Component Repair. IMS can assess the suitability for repair of each component upon receipt and discuss any difficulties with the customer prior to proceeding with any gas turbine repair work.
